Today, the first of the year 2025, Burundians have joined other countries to celebrate the International Day of Workers and Labor. Here in Burundi, the day has been celebrated with the following slogan: “Let’s increase production, considering the direction of a rapidly developing country in 2040 and a wealthy country in 2060.” Taking this country’s slogan into account, the factory that manufactures organic fertilizers mixed with minerals, FOMI, has also joined others to celebrate the day with the slogan: “Let’s make good use of fertilizers and agricultural lime produced by Fomi FOMI, let’s increase production, considering the direction of a rapidly developing country in 2040 and a wealthy country in 2060.”
Celebrations at the national level have been held in Bujumbura at the Intwari Stadium where many celebrations have been held, starting with a long parade of workers in various professional sectors.
Employees at FOMI who represented others at the ceremony were seen to be happy, indicating that FOMI has focused on fulfilling its responsibility to help farmers increase agricultural production by providing them with comprehensive fertilizers to enable greater production, restore soil fertility and protect the environment so that Burundi can achieve its goals through agriculture.
In his speech, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Major General Evariste Ndayishimiye, emphasized on increasing production, creating new wealth every day while thanking workers who use their time well. Let’s stop the habit of despising work because those who despise work die poor. He ended his speech by wishing workers and employers all the best. After the ceremony, FOMI employees continued the celebration at the FOMI headquarters located in Maramvya County, Mutimbuzi District where they donated drinks and food to other branches of ITRACOM HOLDING, which are the following: ITRACOM which is involved in Transportation, FOMI which is in Burundi which manufactures fertilizers here in Burundi, ITRACOM Fertilizers which manufactures fertilizers in Tanzania, INKINZO which is involved in insurance, BCAB Farmers Bank, ITRAPACK which manufactures environmentally friendly shopping bags and ITRASAGRI which produces quality seeds while celebrating with the founder of ITRACOM HOLDING, His Excellency Ntigacika Adriano.
