On September 16th, 2025, the FOMI Company received a delegation of visitors from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). They were welcomed by the General Manager of FOMI, who wished them a warm welcome.
Aimé BOJI, the Minister in charge of industry in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the head of the delegation, presented the members of the later and stated that they came to learn and understand what is happening at FOMI, with the aim of establishing a framework for cooperation between Burundi and the DRC in the agro-industrial sector.
Therefore, the General Manager of FOMI, Simon NTIRAMPEBA, invited them to watch a documentary about the activities and functioning of FOMI. They asked whether the manure used in the production of fertilizers is available in sufficient quantity, or whether there are any other substances that can replace manure, such as organic waste. The Director of Research and Innovation at FOMI, replied that it is possible to substitute it with organic waste in a way they meet the standards required by research.
After that, the visitors took a tour of the factory to see what happening there. Aimé BOJI, the Minister of Industry in the DRC, said that they were very impressed by the ingenuity of the Burundian people in manufacturing fertilizers that contain added nutrients to N-P-K, which allow these fertilizers the power to regenerate soil fertility. He expressed the need for a production factory for the same products to be established in the DRC and/or in addition to import these fertilizers from Burundi to the DRC.
He also said that the fact of making such a visit to the FOMI after the visit made by the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Antoine Felix Tchissekedi Tchilombo to the FOMI, shows the importance that the DRC attaches to this sector, which is useful for improving agricultural production.
The Director General of the FOMI, Simon NTIRAMPEBA, expressed his satisfaction with this visit and promised to respond to the invitation given to him, in order to strengthen cooperation in the agro-industrial sector.
