During her two-day visit to Burundi, Her Excellency Sahle-Work Zewde, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, visited the Organo-Mineral Fertilizer Manufacturing Company (FOMI) on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
Leading a large Ethiopian delegation, the President of Ethiopia arrived at the FOMI factory at 8:40 a.m., accompanied by the Vice-President of the Republic of Burundi, His Excellency Prosper Bazombanza, and several members of the Burundian government, including the Minister of the Environment, Agriculture, and Livestock, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, and other high-ranking officials. At FOMI, these
visitors were welcomed by the Legal Representative of the ITRACOM Group, the
General Manager of FOMI and his Deputy; the Managing Director of the Community and Agricultural Bank of Burundi and his Deputy; the Managing Director of INKINZO Insurance; the Directors of the various departments; and the
employees of FOMI.
After the General Manager of FOMI explained the general manufacturing process of FOMI fertilizers, the Technical Director took over to give them a tour of the factory so they could see firsthand how FOMI’s organo-mineral fertilizers are produced.
In his interview, the General Manager of FOMI,
Mr. Simon NTIRAMPEBA, indicated that he was satisfied with the visit. He added that the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia encouraged FOMI for the very impressive work already accomplished. She asked FOMI to do everything possible to increase production, even if it meant having a sufficient stock of organo-mineral fertilizers for export, given that this factory is unique in the sub-region.
After signing FOMI’s guestbook, the Legal Representative of the ITRACOM Group thanked the distinguished guest, Her Excellency Mrs. Sahle-Work Zewde, for her visit and presented her with a souvenir gift.
