During a workshop organized by MAC at the Source du Nil Hotel on Thursday, December 4, 2025, with the aim of evaluating the activities carried out from 2022 to 2025, all participants expressed positive appreciation for the training they received from the technicians of FOMI Company. These trainings focused on good agricultural practices and the proper use of FOMI fertilizers.
The president of the MAC association, Aimé Pascal Nduwimana, said that during this period, they approached the authorities of FOMI so that they could teach them good agricultural practices using FOMI fertilizers.
He gave the example of field visits carried out in different provinces of the country, where FOMI technicians met farmers who are members of MAC’s UBUDASA cooperatives, in order to provide guidance.
When these farmers began implementing the teachings, agricultural production increased, and soil acidity significantly decreased thanks to the agricultural lime produced by FOMI.
Among the concerns raised, the issue of delay and insufficiency of FOMI fertilizers, which leads to a decrease in production, was submitted.
The Deputy Director General of FOMI, Manyange Herménégilde, responded that the collaboration between FOMI and MAC will continue in order to make activities more productive.
As for the Ministry responsible for agriculture, the Minister’s assistant, Léonard Butoyi, stated that this delay and insufficiency of FOMI fertilizers is due to a demand that continues to increase year after year.
He said that FOMI is working to solve this problem, as another factory is currently being set up in Bukemba to produce sufficient quantities and export the surplus.
