Under the High Patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Burundi, the Association of Industrialists of Burundi (AIB), with financial support from Trade Mark East Africa, organized the second edition of the Industrial Fair under the theme: “Innovation: A Determining Factor of Industrial Competitiveness.” This Industrial Fair took place from June 13th to 15th, 2019, at the Hotel Club du Lac Tanganyika.
FOMI, a young company manufacturing organo-mineral fertilizers and agricultural lime, participated in the fair.
In his welcoming remarks, the President of the AIB welcomed all participants and emphasized that this was an excellent opportunity for Burundian industrialists and those from the sub-region to network, exchange experiences, and forge mutually beneficial partnerships. As for the President of the Republic, after giving thanks to Almighty God, from whom all blessings and privileges emanate, he thanked the organizers, participants, and technical and financial partners. He stated that he desires an industry that respects environmental requirements and contributes to job creation and economic growth. He expressed his delight at the industrial revival in Burundi.
In closing, he recommended that the Ministry of Industry submit the National Industrialization Policy, based on the 2018-2027 National Development Plan, to the Council of Ministers.
Following the opening ceremonies, His Excellency the President of the Republic of Burundi, accompanied by all the participants, visited the booths where various products were on display. The FOMI booth was also visited. There, the President praised the FOMI-IMBURA organo-mineral fertilizer and noted that he had personally tested it in his fields. Its effectiveness in agriculture was confirmed.
FOMI’s Research Director took this opportunity to explain to the public the benefits of FOMI. He specified that it is a complete fertilizer, containing all the elements necessary for plants. He added that FOMI will greatly contribute to the country’s development. Details of this explanation will be published later in a video on this website.
During the event, several topics were discussed, and there were very fruitful exchanges. On the third day, participants visited the MUSUMBA Steel and FOMI factories. The ceremonies concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participants.
