At a meeting held in Gitega on August 29, 2025, chaired by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Calinie MBARUSHIMANA, major projects being prioritized with the aim of developing agriculture that will lead Burundi to the vision of a prosperous country in 2040 and a developed country in 2060 were presented.

All those involved in the agricultural sector were invited to the meeting, including those who live in Burundi or abroad who wish to or are already working in the agricultural sector.

It is with this in mind that the Deputy Director General of FOMI, MANYAGE Herménégilde, presented what is currently being done by FOMI to contribute to this plan. Ir. MANYAGE Herménégilde announced that FOMI is building a large factory in Bukemba in the RUTANA commune that will employ about 6000 workers. She also announced that they need large plots of land to be able to carry out projects related to fertilizer production such as breeding, building housing for workers and large plots of land to test the fertilizer.

Ir. MANYANGE Herménégilde announced that the benefit of the factory to the country will be enormous because it will provide abundant fertilizer to Burundian citizens, as well as international investment and thus generate international funds.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister of Burundi, Nestor NTAHONTUYE.
