On November 20, 2019, a visit by members of parliament, led by the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Right Honorable Pascal Nyabenda, took place at the FOMI company headquarters.

Arriving around 6:00 p.m., they were welcomed by the FOMI company’s legal representative, the Managing Director, and other department heads.

The Technical Director of FOMI, Mr. Victor Ngendanzi, presented and explained the FOMI fertilizer products and manufacturing process to the parliamentarians. Following this briefing, the parliamentarians toured the factory and saw firsthand how organo-mineral fertilizers are produced.

In his address, the Managing Director of FOMI, Mr. Ntirampeba Simon, welcomed all the distinguished visitors. He emphasized that, after approximately one year of operation, FOMI had already established stockpiles in all provinces of the country. He added that the fertilizer distribution campaign for the 2020A growing season is drawing to a close and that FOMI-IMBURA fertilizer has been distributed throughout the country. “FOMI has over 400 employees; the company provides them with transportation, meals, and healthcare,” said the Managing Director of FOMI. He concluded by thanking the Government for the importance it places on FOMI and requested incentives such as tax exemptions on imported raw materials.

For his part, the Minister of the Environment, Agriculture, and Livestock, Dr. Déo Guide RUREMA, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in the agricultural sector and the role FOMI plays in the country’s development.

The Speaker of the National Assembly warmly congratulated the Legal Representative of the FOMI Industry for the innovative idea of creating such an industry. He noted that the fields visited were in excellent condition and promised a good yield.

This visit marked the conclusion of a tour of ten provinces across the country conducted by the Bureau of the National Assembly and the Minister of the Environment, Agriculture, and Livestock.
